About the project
The Brief
The Queensland section of the RFDS is an industry leader in using simulation in education. Their reputation was further enhanced in 2019 with the establishment of the Traegar Clinical Innovation and Learning Centre (TCILC) at Brisbane Airport.
This facility includes an immersive video simulation space for inter-professional simulation and a Virtual Reality station for clinicians to practice their skills.
My role provided support to a range of simulation initiatives.

The Solution
After completing the Introduction to Simulation Methodology (ISM) program at Mater Education, I was assigned primary responsibility for operating the Simulation Control Room during demonstrations for VIPs and training sessions for clinicians.
This included equipment setup, operation of the Audio-Visual software, manipulation of the manikin (e.g. changing vital signs) and being the ‘Voice of God’.
In addition, I created a host of instructional materials for use by other educators in support of a ‘train the trainer’ model.
