About the project

The Brief

The Safety Framework Review (SFR) was a major, multi-year program reviewing every aspect of safety at the Department of Education.

In a business partnering role as lead facilitator, I worked with other facilitators and the SFR project team to support consultation activities.

Over the course of 10 months, I was asked to facilitate (or co-facilitate) a range of consultation workshops, both in-person and online.

These workshops covered focus areas including risk and governance, management systems, and culture and capability.

The Solution

The partnering approach featured a significant investment in co-design with the project team. This approach built facilitation capability in the project team itself, enabling a ‘drawing down’ of my facilitation support over time.

I was fortunate to work closely with another facilitator during this program, which provided a great opportunity to explore ideas and leverage our respective strengths in delivering positive experiences for the audiences.

My personal facilitation practice pivoted with the audience need and desired outcomes. Some sessions required a ‘hands off’ approach; other sessions required intervention and the need to manage difficult conversations.

The design process developed for this program became the template for other events.
