About the project
The Brief
ABN Victoria’s People and Culture Manager wanted to improve the onboarding experience through eLearning.
The existing process had new starters receiving a printed ‘induction pack’ containing 70+ pages of information, followed by face-to-face meetings with department heads. It was widely accepted that the induction pack was out of date and frequently ignored.
I was tasked with the design of a first-day eLearning module to replace the induction pack, with the requirement for an interactive experience that could be completed in 15 minutes.

The Solution
An extensive solution analysis and scoping process was undertaken at the client’s premises before we submitted a proposal.
Upon acceptance of the proposal, I prepared a detailed storyboard and design concept for client review before commencing detail design. A comprehensive Design Review was conducted at the client’s premises prior to a pilot implementation.
Welcome Home was one of the most collaborative projects that I have been involved in. The client was actively involved from day one, leading to an efficient design and review process.
Valued by the Managing Director as “a super idea which means the staff member has to get involved to learn”, Welcome Home is a unique and interactive start to a new employee’s career at ABN Group.

Remote Collaboration
As I performed the design work remotely, I provided the client with a design concept in the form of a narrated screencast. This overcame the barrier of distance and allowed me to get feedback from multiple stakeholders efficiently.
Interactive ‘pull’ content
Each room in the virtual house contains a topic. To access content, the user must drag-and-drop furniture items into the correct location, thereby decorating the room as they go.
